Role: Sr. Manager, Design Studio Operations
In my role, I managed a team of designers in executing campaign creative production. By leveraging my expertise in design optimization and operational efficiency, I ensured the seamless delivery of high-quality, impactful campaigns. My leadership fostered a collaborative environment, empowering designers to produce exceptional work that aligns with strategic objectives and resonates with target audiences.
At Sound United, I managed a team of 4 digital designer, 1 UX/UI designer, 2 copywriters. I identified opportunities to improve efficiency in the content creation and production process. By developing and organizing Figma files to live on component systems (email components with style guide for example) and also boards that tracked projects, the team was able to align and work collaboratively effectively. Prior to that, files were created separately and the template was separate, making it difficult to track, and be consistent with the design styles and messaging.
My team scaled to include additional 4 overseas contractors. Three digital designers and 1 video production editor. Proactively, I created an onboarding training schedule and resources to help the new team members get acclimated with our brands, and our processes. Including, documenting where to find information, recordings of how our process works, and how we utilize our platforms to our file naming system. I schedule regular check ins, and host workshops to ensure that my team is set up for success.
Management Style
I care a lot about the personal ambitions of each member. Choosing to learn their strengths and weaknesses allowing our department to run agile and also fill in gaps for projects based on skillsets. I create opportunities based on what I’ve learned on how to best lean on their strengths and to provide experiences for professional growth.
My main ambition for my team is to set my team up to succeed. The members of my team, are supportive to one another, volunteering to help when needed. They are transparent with me and they share feedback on what is working and what is not. Giving me insight on their challenges or successes, gives me the information I need to make decisions that influence their work. I encourage curiousity, and autonomy to take initiative. I believe that we learn best when we fall. Change will inevitability happen, and transparency towards what actions I’m taking to improve garners trust.
